The Peachree Corners Waverunners have been members of the Gwinnett County Swim League (GCSL) since 1985. To be eligible to swim in the GCSL, swimmers must be no older than 18 as of June 1st. Each year, our swim team has a cut-off date by which time a swimmer must be able to 25 yards without coach assistance in 90 seconds or less. This cut-off date is usually the Mock Meet, an intra-team "practice" meet that we run for our swimmers age 12 and under in late May. The requirement helps ensure both the safety of the swimmer AND helps assist us in keeping the length of our swim meets to a reasonable length of time. Usually, 90 seconds is ample time for a beginner swimmer to make it across the pool.
Weekday after-school practices begin at the Peachtree Corners Swim & Racquet pool the second Monday in May and continue until Gwinnett County Public Schools finish for the year. Swimmers ages 6 & under usually practice at the YMCA during the first week, as the pool can be cold in May. Once Gwinnett County Public Schools release for the year, our practices switch to the morning. The team swims in six weekly meets which occur primarily on Thursday nights. from the end of May and through early July. The day following a regular season Thursday swim meet is a Fun Day for all registered swim team members from 10-11 am.
